Download Remixware

The remixware command is one file with nothing else to install. Each archive below holds it with its license files and the manual. The links always point to the latest release.

System Download

Linux, ARM64 remixware_linux_arm64.tar.gz

Windows, x86-64 remixware_windows_amd64.zip

Checksums are in SHA256SUMS. Every release is listed on GitHub.

Install

Each archive holds the program next to its README and licence files, with no folder around them, so unpack it into an empty folder. On Linux or macOS, using the name of the archive you downloaded:

mkdir remixware-download
tar -xzf remixware_linux_amd64.tar.gz -C remixware-download
sudo mv remixware-download/remixware /usr/local/bin/
remixware version

The binaries are static, so they run on any Linux distribution. The macOS binaries aren’t signed by Apple, so macOS may block the first run; allow it in System Settings under Privacy & Security, or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /usr/local/bin/remixware. On Windows, unzip the archive and put remixware.exe in a folder on your PATH.

Each binary is built by the release workflow on GitHub. Before a release goes out, the workflow runs the Linux, Windows and Apple silicon builds through a short test: it indexes the test projects, checks that a project with a GPL copy fails and a clean one passes, and reads a SCANOSS results file.

Build It Yourself

You need Go 1.24 or later. Remixware uses only Go’s standard library, so there’s nothing else to fetch:

go install github.com/softdevstudio/remixware/cmd/remixware@latest

Or clone the repository and run go build ./cmd/remixware. The tests run with go test ./....
